Elbows While You Work

How we position our elbows can impact how our forearms, wrists and hands feel. Ideally you want to keep your elbows at a 90 degree angle and your wrists flat when working at a computer. In practice, however, I have noticed that many people will push their chairs further away from the desk and have their arms extended out straight.

When doing this it may be that we end up overly straightening at the elbow and hyper-extending/locking it. If we hold this position for long periods at a time it can contribute to aches further down the arm and possibly also further up around the shoulder. So try to keep that 90 degrees angle and if you do find yourself with extended arms when working at the computer then have a little bend at the elbows and make sure the inside elbow creases look at each other, rather than up.
