CLIENT FOCUS: CO-COUNSEL MOVE MORE FOR MOVEMBER

This November one of my corporate clients, Co-Counsel, have been running an excellent wellbeing initiative called, ‘Move More Movember.’ This has involved team members competing to see who will move more using a number of movement initiatives including PAYD’s Move At Your Desk membership videos.

This law firm joined MAYD membership in July and are already familiar with the MAYD moves but we want to take this one step further: encouraging everyone to do a couple of videos each day and upping this as the month went on. Alongside this, the team have also looked for innovative ways to slot in extra movement while they work (eg by taking walking/standing meetings).

I think it’s really impressive when a workplace adopts a ‘move more’ policy and it’s very encouraging to see leaders within organsiations not only supporting more movement, but actually taking part in the movement too!

As part of this initiative, I joined Co-Counsel for two online workshops. One to kick-off the event and talk about why movement matters and how to incorporate more into the working day - with a sprinkling of movement too. The second workshop was yesterday and we put the team to the test with a Strength At Your Desk movement session (chair palnks, squats and seated abdominal work too!). It was challenging but awesome and there were plenty of smiles at the end (always a bonus!).

I loved hearing how the team found moving the MAYD way throughout the month. One of my favourite comments (and one which was mentioned by more than one person) was that choosing one of the energising moves videos mid-afternoon was a great way to beat the afternoon slump boosting energy, mood and productivity for the rest of the day.

Excellent work Co-Counsel! Here’s to more healthy movement habits in 2023 and I look forward to helping you along you merry-moving way!
